Arbutus Ridge Residence
The Arbutus Ridge House redesign brought a vibrant energy to a compact Vancouver home, tailored to suit the dynamic lifestyle of its owners and their beloved dog. With an original layout that felt segmented and restrictive, the project centered around opening the main floor to create a fluid, welcoming space ideal for entertaining. By reimagining the kitchen as the heart of the home and adding colorful, custom millwork, the once compartmentalized layout transformed into an airy, functional space that truly reflects the homeowners’ love of color and connection.
Upon entry, the redesigned Living Room replaces an oversized fireplace with a refined marble feature, while an organic-shaped rug and sculptural furniture in cobalt and raspberry tones create a dynamic, inviting atmosphere. Integrated cabinetry enhances the vertical space, and a cozy window bench offers a perch for the dog or guests. Throughout, oak flooring and a suspended glass pendant light fixture highlight the room’s height and add warmth and sophistication.
Designed for the clients’ passion for cooking, entertaining, and working from home, the Kitchen features a hidden breakfast niche, an island dining extension, and a seamless flow into the Great Room. The home’s colorful accents, including a bold wallpapered powder room, carry into practical spaces like the laundry and dog wash closets, where custom millwork conceals storage. Together, these thoughtful updates infuse the home with personality, transforming it into a vibrant, functional, and uniquely personal space.
